About this collection

You can't ask a child with profound and multiple learning disabilities how they're feeling, and a smile doesn't tell you everything. Wellbeing has to be built through the body, the senses and the people around them.

You get the thinking and the activities. You'll learn to plan for a child's safety, expression, connection and sense of control, and to use video and team discussion to judge what's working. Then comes the fun: party games like pass the parcel reworked with textures and switches, and five bubble activities made with washing-up liquid, a torch and an old sock.

Every activity is built around real choices, waiting and anticipation, so the learner is doing far more than watching.

What you'll learn

  • Plan for wellbeing beyond happiness, including safety, expression and connection
  • Adapt familiar party games so learners with PMLD can take part
  • Run low-cost sensory bubble activities with choice and anticipation
  • Use switches so a learner can control music or a bubble machine
  • Read small responses, like a look or a change in breathing
