About this course
Pass the parcel isn't much fun if you can't tear the paper or hear the music stop. A few changes let people with PMLD play the party games everyone knows, with plenty to communicate about.
In sensory pass the parcel, every layer is a new texture, such as bubble wrap, foil or fur, and a Big Mac switch lets one player start the music for everyone. Musical statues can be run from a head switch, and there's a hiding game with a scarf, a star game and a cake nobody has to eat. Each game is linked to the seven elements of the engagement profile.
The ideas come from a special school teacher with 14 years of PMLD experience. Her story of a pupil who took five minutes to blow out his own candle is a good reason to wait before you help.
- For early career teachers, parents and 3 other roles. Early years and special.
