About this collection

If you've been asked to lead on mental health or inclusion, you'll know a display board and an assembly won't change much. You need an honest picture of where the school is now, a plan people believe in, and staff who feel able to cope when a child's behaviour escalates.

This pathway is for that leader. You'll audit provision across leaders, staff, pupils, parents and the curriculum, then map the support in school and beyond so nobody is searching online in the middle of a crisis. You'll make the case for a whole school approach and bring governors and sceptical colleagues with you.

It also looks at how you lead: trauma-informed principles in everyday conversations, and simple models of the brain that help staff calm a situation before anyone calls SLT.

What you'll learn

  • Audit mental health provision across leadership, staff, pupils, parents and curriculum
  • Map school, local and national support so staff know where to turn
  • Win support for a whole school approach from leaders, governors and staff
  • Apply trauma-informed principles to how you lead staff, pupils and families
  • Coach staff to de-escalate extreme behaviour before it reaches SLT
