About this course
A child who'd never talk to a stranger at the school gate might happily chat to one in a game or on a live stream. Online, the warning signs are easier to miss, for them and for you.
Get to grips with the six main kinds of online risk, from grooming and scams to the slow damage of chasing likes, and see how each one shows up on social media, gaming and live streaming. You'll understand why loot boxes can hook children without counting as gambling, and when sexting or cyberbullying becomes child-on-child abuse.
Above all, you'll know your part. Make it easy for a child to tell you when something has gone wrong online, and take it straight to your designated safeguarding lead.
- For early career teachers, governors and 5 other roles. All phases.
