About this course

It can take a while to see a pattern in skipped breakfasts, snapping at dinner or trips to the bathroom straight after meals. And most people with an eating disorder aren't underweight, so it's easy to miss what's happening or doubt what you've noticed.

This course, from a mental health trainer with more than 25 years' experience, helps you understand what's going on and what to do. You'll learn why an eating disorder is often a way of coping with big feelings. Then you'll plan how to raise your worries: pick a calm moment away from mealtimes, and talk side by side on a walk or in the car. The BLAST approach (bored, lonely, anxious or angry, stressed, tired) helps you build structure and calm into the day.

It's just as much about looking after yourself, and knowing where to turn, from your GP to Beat.

  • For early career teachers, mental health leads and 6 other roles. Primary, secondary and special.
