About this course

"She's fine once she's in." Many parents of children who struggle to attend have heard that, along with "have you tried a sticker chart?". Meanwhile their child is holding it together all day and falling apart at home, and the parents walk into meetings feeling outnumbered and blamed.

School staff and parents get further working as one team. You'll learn the early signs of school distress, from tummy aches to a child who can't sleep because bedtime means school is close. You'll also see why a child who seems fine may be masking. The Define Fine guide, which you can download, helps you agree together what the barriers are and what a support plan should include.

It comes from someone who has sat on both sides of that table, as a qualified teacher and as a parent peer supporter.

  • For early career teachers, governors and 6 other roles. All phases.
