About this course

Respect and diversity are probably in your school's values already. The harder questions are whether every senior leader means the same thing by them, and whether a pupil would know where to go if a friend was being bullied.

This course helps you check and strengthen the culture your mental health strategy will rest on. Start with the leadership team, using something as simple as a diamond nine activity to agree which values matter most and why. Then look at how those values reach pupils, parents and staff, through the student council, displays and your website. Test your behaviour and pastoral systems against them too: are they built on relationships, are sanctions clear and used consistently, and is there an obvious route for reporting a worry?

You'll come away with questions worth taking to your next leadership meeting.

  • For early career teachers, governors and 4 other roles. Post-16, primary, secondary and special.
