About this course
New teachers put their pupils first all day, then wonder why they're running on empty by half term. Looking after yourself is part of the job. Pupils learn more from watching you do it than from any PSHE lesson.
The advice is practical. Sleep, food and exercise come first, and sleep is the one to fix if you can only fix one. Plan in the calm weeks for the crunch points, like that dark third week of November. Stop comparing your bloopers with your colleagues' highlight reels. And keep up the parts of your life that aren't teaching, so one bad lesson doesn't knock everything over.
You'll also learn the warning sign that matters most, which is change, and what to do when you spot it in yourself, a colleague or a pupil.
- For early career teachers. All phases.
