About this course

Finding out your child is being bullied can make you want to march straight into school. Before you do, it helps to know what to say at home.

This course gives you a clear place to start. You'll get a simple test for telling banter from bullying (hurtful, repeated, deliberate, and with an imbalance of power) and learn how to hear your child out without piling your own anger on top. Bullying wears down self-esteem fast, so there are ideas for building it back, like writing down what you love about them so they can read it again on a bad day. You'll also practise calm responses together, because what a bully usually wants is a reaction.

When you do talk to the school, go with facts rather than fury, and agree straight away how your child will be kept safe.
