About this course
Walk into some schools and you can tell within minutes whether people are looking after each other. The harder part is knowing what you're picking up on, and what to do when your own school isn't there yet.
You'll get a set of questions that turn that gut feeling into something you can act on, such as whether staff, parents and pupils feel seen and heard. Each comes with something simple to try. Ask "how are you?" twice when a colleague says "fine". Set up proud pegs where pupils clip up something they're proud of, from home as well as school. Put helpline posters on the back of every toilet door, where a struggling pupil can read them unseen.
You'll finish knowing where your school's gaps are, with a first step for each, whether you lead on mental health or support it day to day.
- For governors, middle leaders and senior leaders. All phases.
