About this course
A picture of a sad face means very little to most pupils with PMLD. Feelings, self-care and knowing who you are still matter hugely, so the question is how to teach them in a way that reaches each pupil.
This course, built on the PSHE planning framework for pupils with SEND, gives you plenty of ways in. You might sing a pupil's name to a familiar tune so it doesn't sound like a nag, or play sensory pass the parcel with the next activity's props hidden in the layers. Task analysis breaks toothbrushing into steps agreed with the family, and for harder feelings there's story massage, a worry monster to feed and squidgy stress-relief bags.
It's taught by an experienced PMLD teacher who now runs a sensory service, and every idea is shaped around the individual pupil and the people who know them best.
- For early career teachers, middle leaders and 4 other roles. All phases.
