About this course
Finding a shiny gem in squelchy mud. Moving through a wood of hanging branches while a fan sets them swaying. For students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, a well-planned topic turns maths, science, music and art into something they can touch, hear and take part in, again and again until it feels familiar.
An experienced PMLD teacher, with 26 years in the classroom, shows you how she builds one. You'll plan a topic around a story, set the room up as a journey your students move through, and keep resources in ready-stocked tubs so they get used every day. Each student's IEP and EHCP targets sit inside the sessions from the start.
You'll also sharpen the part that's easiest to miss: noticing a glance, a stilling or a giggle, and giving a student the time they need to respond.
- For early career teachers, support staff and 2 other roles. Special.
