About this course
A tray of sticky coloured oats, or golden syrup with glitter and chopsticks, takes minutes to put together. What children do with it can keep them absorbed, chatting and inventing stories for far longer than you'd expect.
You'll come away with three sensory trays you can make from the kitchen cupboard, and a small world built around We're Going on a Bear Hunt, with soil, cotton wool snow and water for the puddles. To stretch the play across a week, join in, ask "what would happen if..." and swap in new resources each day. There's help, too, for the child who hangs back from messy play.
The ideas work in early years and for children with SEND, and you'll be able to link what you notice to Development Matters and the characteristics of effective learning.
- For early career teachers, parents and 3 other roles. Early years, primary and special.
