About this course

Once you've got the job, it's easy for your own learning to stop. But a TA's role can look completely different from one school, class or child to the next, and what you needed last year may not be what you need now.

Built on the knowledge and understanding part of the Teaching Assistant Professional Standards, this course helps you reflect on your practice as you go (imagine watching yourself through the one-way glass of an interview room). You'll work out which skills your role needs and where to find them. You'll also think about adapting your support for pupils with different SEND, and get on top of a class topic before the pupils' questions start.

Go through it before a performance management meeting, and you'll arrive knowing what training to ask for. If you're leading it with a group of TAs, there's trainer guidance and activities to use.

  • For teaching assistants. All phases.
