About this course
When pupils learn from home, you can't assume a parent is free to help or that there's a laptop for every child. Work that depends on either leaves some pupils stuck.
Three starting principles and five tips help you plan around that: explain it, note it, model it, revise it and support it. Keep recorded explanations short, with longer pauses than you'd leave in class and slides alongside. Mix screen-based tasks with paper and active ones. Build in retrieval practice so pupils can work independently, and teach them four study skills to use at home: self-quizzing, elaboration, generation and calibration.
Put everything in one place, too. One platform, with every other link on a single page, makes it far easier for pupils and parents to find their way.
- For early career teachers and teachers. Post-16, primary and secondary.
