About this course
Every young person has bad days. The hard part is telling a rough patch from something that needs action, and knowing whether to keep an eye on things, bring in pastoral support or refer on.
A mental wellbeing continuum, running from healthy through coping and struggling to unwell, lets you place a pupil and see which way they're heading. You'll look at what shapes wellbeing, from home and community to physical health, and at the risk and protective factors in a pupil's life, including the ones school can strengthen. Then there's a stepped approach to intervening that starts with watchful support.
You'll also come away with everyday ideas for the classroom, such as a daily emotional check-in or two minutes of guided breathing, that help the whole class.
- For mental health leads. All phases. England only.
