About this course

"The head asked me to" won't persuade anyone to give up their time. If you're leading your school's mental health work, you need colleagues to see why it matters here, and to trust it isn't the next initiative that fades by summer.

Support has to come from above and below. You'll set out your vision with evidence and with the stories of pupils who've been helped. You'll plan around the barriers you'll meet, workload first: give the corridor display to the colleague who'd enjoy making it, and keep the plan on meeting agendas so it doesn't drift. You'll give every senior leader a clear part to play and work with a link governor for mental health.

Then you'll ask pupils. A short survey or focus group tells you whether the lessons, assemblies and displays are landing, and what they'd change.

  • For governors and mental health leads. Primary and secondary.
