About this course
Plenty of students revise by rereading their notes and giving every subject the same slot on the timetable. It feels productive, and then half of it has gone by the exam.
The fix is to teach them study skills that match how memory works. Spacing and self-testing help knowledge stick over weeks rather than days. The lotus blossom, a grid with a topic in the middle and eight squares around it, shows students what they already know and pushes them to go deeper. There's note making by hand, turning notes into something visual, and the old orators' trick of the mind palace.
None of it needs to wait for exam season. Start early and students get into the habit of finding things out for themselves.
- For early career teachers, supply staff and 3 other roles. Post-16, primary, secondary and special.
