About this course

When a pupil collapses on the field or a colleague faints in a meeting, the nearest adult often isn't the trained first aider. Lots of staff hold back for fear of doing the wrong thing, but doing nothing is the bigger risk, and the law in England protects people who act reasonably and in good faith.

You'll learn to check for danger before rushing in, to call 999 without second-guessing yourself, and how to put someone in the recovery position and start hands-only CPR. It covers choking, seizures, heavy bleeding, burns, nosebleeds and suspected fractures, plus RICE for sprains.

This is first aid awareness, there to sit alongside your school's trained first aiders rather than replace them. It also has you find out where the kit and the defibrillator are, and who to call when your first aider is out on a trip.

  • For all school staff. All phases.
