About this course

If your evenings go on marking and your weekends on planning, you'll know that working longer doesn't make you a better teacher. Mostly it makes you a tired one.

This course is about working smarter on the jobs that eat the most time. Test your marking against three words, meaningful, manageable and motivating, and much of it either goes or becomes quick verbal feedback that pupils act on anyway. Plan around what pupils need to think about rather than building a new resource for every lesson, and give your teaching assistant the kind of work that frees you to teach.

There are simpler habits too. Rank your to-do list one to three, keep a diary for a week to see where your time really goes, and set micro-goals, like reading two pages before bed, small enough to stick.
