About this course
Somewhere between the register, the notices and a missing PE kit, you're also the first person many pupils will turn to when something's wrong. Often it's the small things you notice that show a pupil someone at school cares.
You'll feel ready for that side of the job. Run tutor time so there's room to spot the pupil who's gone quiet. Recognise when someone is making less progress than expected, try targeted teaching first, and know when it's time to bring in your SENCO.
And if a pupil tells you something worrying, you'll understand your duty of care and what your school's child protection procedures ask of you, so you know who to go to straight away.
- For early career teachers. All phases.
