About this course

Invigilating looks simple until something happens. A candidate arrives 40 minutes late, or you spot a phone under a desk halfway through the paper, and you need to know the rule rather than guess at it.

This exam invigilator training turns the JCQ's Instructions for Conducting Examinations into plain steps. You'll know how to check a room before anyone arrives, down to the 1.25 metres between chairs and a clock that shows the real time. You'll also know what to say at the start, how to walk the room without hovering, and how to collect scripts so none go missing.

When something does go wrong, you'll deal with it quietly and get it into the incident log while it's fresh, without unsettling the rest of the room.

  • For early career teachers, middle leaders and 3 other roles. Post-16, primary, secondary and special.
