About this course

Radicalisation doesn't always take years. A child can be groomed online in days, sometimes hours, often starting with something they liked or shared on mainstream social media before the groomer moves the conversation somewhere private.

You'll learn what radicalisation and extremism mean in plain terms, and why some pupils are more vulnerable, including those who've been bullied, have SEND or low self-esteem. You'll know the signs to watch for: pulling away from friends, repeating lines that sound scripted, new anger or secrecy, extremist symbols in their work. Case studies of young people show how it can unfold.

You'll also understand your Prevent duty and what happens after a referral, including the Channel panel. Above all, you'll see why even a small concern belongs with your DSL. It might be the missing piece of a picture someone else has already started.

  • For early career teachers, governors and 5 other roles. All phases.
