About this course

Some teenagers pour everything into football, exam grades or how they look. That works until the injury, the bad result or the falling-out, and then there's nothing left holding them up.

You can help a teenager build a sense of who they are that can take a knock. Help them find more than one pillar for their self-esteem. Tell them, specifically and in writing, what you think makes them brilliant, because they often don't know. Try Ikigai, a Japanese idea about where what you love meets what you're good at, as a way into talking about purpose. And help them find their tribe, the people they fit with, online if not nearby.

A good share of it is about you too, from how you talk about your own achievements to whether they see you beat yourself up over a mistake or laugh and learn from it.
