About this course

A child who shouts out, can't sit still and never finishes a task can look like a behaviour problem. So can a child who seems to ignore you, or who lashes out when their usual adult is away. Sometimes that's exactly what it is. Often it's a need nobody has named yet.

Six needs come up again and again in schools: ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, attachment difficulties, speech, language and communication needs, and autism. For each one you'll learn what it is, how to spot it and what helps. That might be five cubes a child can "spend" on answers at carpet time, or a simple now-and-next board. You'll also see what should be in place, like support plans and referrals.

Each need comes with a PowerPoint for a staff meeting, with clips and discussion questions, so you can share the ideas with your team.

  • For early career teachers, middle leaders and 5 other roles. All phases.
