About this course
You might be the only adult who notices the bruise, the flinch or the child who has suddenly gone quiet. Whatever your job in school, you need to know what that could mean and what to do about it.
The course covers the four main types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual and neglect) and the signs that can point to each, above all a change in a child's behaviour or appearance. If a child tells you something, you'll know how to respond: listen, believe them, never promise to keep it secret, write down their own words and go straight to your designated safeguarding lead.
It's up to date with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 (KCSIE), including newer online risks such as deepfakes and the misuse of AI, so it works as a refresher as well as a first course.
- For early career teachers, middle leaders and 5 other roles. All phases.
