About this course

Children do better when school and home pull together on their mental health. Yet the parents who'd gain most from a workshop are often the ones who don't come.

This course is full of ideas you can borrow from a primary deputy head and senior mental health lead who runs six parent workshops a year. Ask parents what they want help with and they're more likely to turn up. At her school, managing big emotions came top. Bring in the school nurse and local services so families know where else to go. For the harder to reach, try one-minute social media videos answering a real question, recordings of workshops, and a personal invitation at the school gate.

You'll leave with a list of trusted websites and resources, and one or two changes you could make this half term.

  • For early career teachers, mental health leads and 6 other roles. All phases.
