About this course

When the pressure comes from a system you can't change, it's easy to feel there's no point trying. Yet there's usually more within your control, or at least your influence, than it seems late on a Thursday.

A practising primary teacher who writes about teacher wellbeing brings the research down to earth. Sort worries into what you control, what you can influence and what you have to let go. Swap passive coping, like stewing on it alone, for active coping, like talking it through. And trade "selfless giving", saying yes to everything until you burn out, for "otherish" giving that lasts.

His own answer is small things done consistently, like a ten-minute walk at lunchtime, a few minutes' meditation and an earlier night. The EAST framework (easy, attractive, social, timely) helps your own versions stick.

  • For governors, mental health leads and 3 other roles. All phases.
