About this course

PSHE has long been the lesson some pupils, and some staff, don't take seriously. Health education asks for more, from sleep to self-harm and eating disorders, often taught by people who aren't experts in any of them.

You'll shape a curriculum that fits your school, starting with what pupils actually want to learn, from the quiet ones in the middle as well as the loudest voices. Bring families in early, too, so home and school give the same messages. You'll plan how to prepare staff, what to do when a topic is personal to one of them, and why a teacher yawning through a lesson on sleep undoes it.

Every decision starts with the end in mind: what would be different for your pupils if the curriculum worked?

  • For governors, middle leaders and senior leaders. All phases. England only.
