About this course
Do you tell teachers when you're coming in? Who does the observing, and what does it say if it's always a manager? And once you've seen a lesson, how will you know your feedback made any difference?
Here you'll answer those questions and build an observation system that fits your school. You'll agree the focus with the teacher before you go in, and try four structured models of peer observation, including peer triads close to the Japanese lesson study approach. You'll also decide whether a form and criteria help or get in the way.
Learning is hard to see in a single lesson. So you'll also bring in book scrutiny and conversations with pupils and teachers, to judge intent, implementation and impact over time.
- For governors, middle leaders and senior leaders. All phases. England only.
