About this course
Most schools have the induction checklist covered: the tour, the policies, safeguarding, health and safety. What often gets missed is what decides whether someone settles, which is feeling they belong and knowing who they can ask.
You'll come away with practical ways to build that in. Spread induction over the first weeks instead of cramming it into day one. Hand parts of it to the people on your team who know them best (the photocopier expert, not only senior leaders), give each new starter a buddy, and keep regular check-ins in the diary even when you're busy. Tailor it, too, because a teacher returning after 10 years away needs something different from an experienced TA.
A psychologist and education consultant also explains how to spot someone who hasn't settled, and how to raise it without it feeling like another interview.
- For governors, middle leaders and senior leaders. All phases.
