About this course
The EEF's guidance on making best use of teaching assistants found that pupils who work with TAs don't always make the progress everyone hopes for. That's rarely the TA's fault. Most get very little training in how learning works and are left to pick it up as they go.
This course fills in some of that gap. Built around the teaching and learning part of the TA professional standards, it looks at the approaches your teachers use. That way you can support in the same way, rather than falling back on how you were taught yourself. You'll think about inclusion that keeps pupils with SEND learning alongside their classmates, behaviour management in line with your school's policy, and formative assessment that tells the teacher what a pupil needs next.
There's practical help with pupils who are hard to reach, and with keeping a classroom ready for learning.
